[ Homey Updates ]

by Princess Hotcakes on March 4, 2012

This story starts with Craigs List aka CL.
I try really hard not to go no CL.
The furniture section is SO dangerous  for me!

I hold back on furniture shopping until I have money on hand and an item in mind.
Lately, I’ve been in the market for a set of lamps.
The downstairs formal living room is really poorly lit in the evenings.

I found this set of vintage lamps for $25!
Can you believe it?!

It took a while to decide what color to paint the bases.
We ultimately decided on chrome.
There are just so many colors in the art piece behind the lamps that we didn’t want to compete.

We were planning a trip to Home Depot to pick up a kit to fix the upstairs bathroom.
So we picked up a couple cans of spray paint.

Foil is the best way to cover odd shapes when prepping to paint.

Primer.

Voila!
So awesome to bask in their glowy goodness.

Another exciting addition to our home?
Dual flushing toilets!!

Seriously. You can pick up a kit at Home Depot for $20!
Easy. Peasy.

Marko loves using it!

Umm, I think it’s funny I’ll have to explain this to guests…

That’s all!
Good night!!

[ Marko Gruvin’ ]

by Princess Hotcakes on February 28, 2012

About a month or so ago…
We were in Downtown Portland killing some time while we waited for our car to be fixed.
We stumbled upon this record player which you can buy here.
And we bought it.

We have been enjoying watching Marko develop a musical interest.
It first started when we got the Xbox Kinect.
It took him a while to decide dancing was fun.
Then came DJ Hero.
Where we noticed him moving, unprompted to they rhythm of the music.
And finally,  Rock Band.
He loves the drums.

We want to support him in this naturally developing process.
A record player seems the best solution.
What better way to cultivate a musical foundation?
He loves it!

Our first two records…

I was a wee bit sneaky and captured this video of Marko dancing freestyle!!

It is SO much fun to be a part of his life.

Inspiring. Motivating. True. “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t [...]
